Additional Evaluation of feedback- what did you learn from the audience feedback

Getting feedback from my classmates and teacher was really helpful, as it offered me both constructive criticism and enabled me to understand what i had done well. On presenting the pitch, i felt it was crucial to engage the whole of my classmates and in order to do this, i needed to summarise my points and use limited amount of fillers as it made the speech come across as professional and also formal. I aimed to use as limited informal language as possible, in order to express myself efficiently and clearly. However, from the feedback i understood that this wasn't necessarily the case as i was told to cut down on fillers and use more precise terminology in order to portray why i chose the music video. Again, getting feedback like this was really beneficial based on the fact that i was able to see what wasn't working well for me through various other individual perspectives. In addition, fortunately i was able to re-do my speech in order to turn some of the critics into positives. Understanding what i needed to do was vital and thus allowed me to express myself in a more accurate and coherent way second time round. Similarly, i also  received criticism for not including the costume that i'll be using in my video. This was a reminder rather than a criticm to me because it reminded what i needed to implement and discuss next time. Furthemore, from the feedback it indadvertedly became apparent that i had forgotten to put the evidence from the artist that i was allowed to use his song, this was really significant and knowing that i hadn't done this, allowed me to approach the artist and conversate about making the proof visible.

On the other hand, the feedback from the pitch i was also able to gather that it wasn't all negative the positives were also voiced out by my classmates thus allowing me to denote what i had actually done well. For example, amongst the discussion i understood that i had outlined the locations of my music video in depth thus enabling me to convey my thoughts about my artist in my own way. Understanding what came across as engaging in the eyes of others was really significant, as it allowed me to keep the idea and the methodology in the way i had primarily chose to. In addition, i was also told that my analysis of the target audience was done minutely as i made it clear what my target audience would be through analysiing the lyrics but also with the location. It quickly became clear through my genre of song that i would aim the song for working class elderly teenagers. It was explained in the pitch that this was a realistic target audience because the lyrics are relatable to them and thus becomes meaningful.

In conclusion, i would say that getting feedback on my pitch was helpful as it allowed me to change certain aspects of my pitch in order to make it more engaging to the audience but at the same time keeping it formal.

This is an example, of an individual that we may find at a Yungen concert, he is a young black teenager who is interested in music. His ethnicity is similar to our protagonist artist, which makes the lyrics relatable and meaningful to him. He is someone who may have a similar background to Yungen and thus feels inspired by his music. Additionally, through the denotation of the headphones we connote that he is enjoys music, as he has a slight grin on his face to represent the fact the he is enjoying what he is listening to. The fact that he is aspiring to be a professional musician helps interpret the fact that he may be passionate and eager to learn how to do so.

Feedback of initial idea

In this video, it became apparent that my collegues and teacher felt that i could have gone in more depth about my locations, this way they would have a much better understanding. At first, it  came across as ambiguous through the way i presented it in the slide. There were numerous suggestions about using alternative plots, something that i should have considered at the time and now it's more understandable the point in which the my colleagues made.  The fact that it was just one plot could have made it seem boring and disengaging to the audience members independent of quickly the shots were it was still vital to ensure that the video had some time of stroyline and meaning to it. The positives were that the rest of the presentation was done clearly which in turn meant that the understanding from them all was good.

Evaluation part 5- How did you use new media technologies in the research planning, construction and evaluation stages.

PRE PRODUCTION.

One drive was an element with existing technologies that meant we were able to transfer videos and images from another source to our blogger account. This was really useful in the sense that it saved time and provided a good platform to make transfers quick and easily accessible.

Google drive was similar to one drive in the sense that it was used to upload files and documents to blogger. I found it useful, because i was able to implement numerous files that were done quickly and effectively.





Blogger was used to was evaluate and analyse the use and conduction of the research and planning we had carried out. In it we discussed the advantages and disadvantages of different type of music videos. This developed my understanding, as i was able to understand the various type of music videos and through this i could interpret which one compliments the genre of our music video. It was also useful in the sense that we could view other peoples work and take things from there that we may not have put into our one.

Social networking was a vital part in being able to access our artist. From twitter, we were able to communicate and make a request as to whether using their song to make a video would be fine according to them. Additionally, twitter also ensured that we understood what sort of genre was popular at the time, as the comments and suggestions about established artists enabled us to understand what we could do to conform to a grime but genre, but at the same time what we could deviate from what seemed to be unpopular amongst audiences. I felt that twitter was also useful in the sense that we could relate easier to the informal language and audience demands as a vast majority of the twitter users are young teenagers like ourselves.
Power point was used to bring forward my ideas regarding what i aimed to do with my chosen song and what codes and conventions would be used in order to make it appealing and conformative to a grime genre. I used it to present my ideas to my classmates as a way to express my thoughts and receive feedback from them. It was reasonable successful in the sense that i was able to relate to numerous visual references in order to allows a better interpretation to my explanation.





POST PRODUCTION.

Photoshop was useful in the sense that our group was able to design our magazine and digipak in the way we wanted. The tools on display helped to make it original and thus meant we could implement the ideas we had into the the actual design. It was used to create an appealing cover to the target audience, the adoption of the colours blue and black in both comforted to our themes, as the light colour represents the character's happy moments in the video. Whereas, the black highlights the negativity in his life when we was left alone by his mother and he had no food to eat and no on to comfort him. This is when he resulted to criminal behaviour such as taking money from individuals in order for him to survive.

Final cut pro was used by our group to edit and alter the effect of scenes. Through this app, we were able to obtain knowledge regarding how to limit the time frame and change angles for it to be more effective and engaging for the audience. We found through our research and planning that professional shots often had a low time frame before changing the shot, as that way the audience would be able to see the various angles which could in turn lead to a better interpretation of the scene. With final cut pro, we were also able to implement effects such as the black and white effect, this way the viewers could see the negative parts of the character's life with the colour black, but at the same time denote the positive parts with the natural light implemented to establish progression in his life. I found that final cut was successful as it gave us total control regarding what we could do in order to make our video unique and engaging to the audience.

YouTube was used to research different music videos to gain an understanding on how to ensure my groups product comes across as successful and appealing to the target audience. The research was done not only to find successful videos, but also for me to understand what could make a music video unsuccessful as a way for me to learn on how to deviate from that. The insight on what makes certain genres differentiate was also vital through research done on YouTube, as it established  what codes and conventions are used to conform to certain genres, for example, we found that pop genres are normally fast paced with bright colours to represent the fact that the song is a happy one. This was useful because i became able to understand what i would need to include and at the same time what codes and conventions would subvert to a grime music video.
YouTube was useful, as using it allowed me to gain in depth nuance in regards to what i needed to include but also what would hinder the progression of my video. Seeing professional music videos allowed me to adopt elements that enhanced my final production.








PRODUCTION

The camera was used in our product to take various images of our character. The mobility of it meant that we were able to captivate several facial gesticulations of the character which signified the intensity of his emotions. The numerous low and high angle shots meant that the audience could interpret moments where he was dominant depicted particularly through the low angle shots. Whereas, the high angles shots connoted the inferiority of the character. The camera was useful, as it was easily transportable which meant that it was reliable when ever we needed to use it.






The filming camera was used to captivate every moment of the artist's philosophical life. We were able to use a range of shots, again to represent the fact that he experienced various difficult periods in his life. It was useful in the sense that we could remove the camera from the tripod and do the filming from varying angles, in order to make it more realistic and engaging to the audience.

Music Video Pitch

Mr primary aim when producing my pitch to the rest of my classmates, was to make it clear what my target audience was, the purpose of the song and the location it'll be held at. In order to make it more understandable to them, i managed to link some well known artists to my chosen group "House of Pharoes". I briefly highlighted the significance of the rap culture in the modern as it's used influentially for the younger generation who aspire to be like the rappers who embodied rap for example Tupac and Biggy Smalls such a significant impact in the industry. Additionally, in my pitch it was also vital to understand the codes and conventions of rap and i managed to do this, by understanding the type of clothing these sort of artists tend to adopt. A major aspect of this, was the expensive chains and jewellery which connotes the wealth of the artists. I aimed to replicate this by presenting my artist in a way in which he was perceived as wealthy and talented, so i aimed to implement expensive and well known brands in the video in order to make it relatable and comfortable to the codes and conventions of a typical crime genre.

The location would have been a skateboard park, as a way to portray deviance and young teenage rebellion behaviour. From the lyrics, we can infer that the characters are quite mischievous and i felt that this could be highlighted if the video was done during the night as it draws connations of wrong doings and evil and thus created a sense of wrong. In addition the location also complimented the song in the sense that the lyrics had a range of profanities in it, as it was about teenagers having a good time. I felt that the skateboard park emphasised this point based on the fact that it was a place teenagers would go and hang out, and often inhaled illegal substances.

Lyrics Analysis

At beginning of the song, we come across repetition in form of ''ah you ah you''. The repetition of thus, is there to show the effectiveness of that and importance, this could be reinforced through identifying the fact that the song is directed at a specific individual.

Furthermore, a large of the lyrics are about illegal drugs, which again highlights the fact teenagers are rebellious and thus makes it clear the target audience cannot be an old man for example, because the lyrics signify the deviant and criminal behaviour that conforms to the fact teenagers are seen to be criminal in their acts.

The highlights in blue are examples of informality and repetition in the song. I specifically highlighted theses bits in order to show that it conforms to the genre of my song, this was done as a way to portray that the lyrics are realistic and more significantly relatable to the target audience and elderly male boys. For example words such as ''amma'' is a replacement for ''i', going to'' this was specifically added in to show informality but also to conform to the genre of grime and hood. Furthermore, sexual references are also included to show rebellion amongst the group members, representing the fact that teenagers in contemporary society do rebel quote frequently. The fact that is shown in the song connotes the fact that the rappers understand the struggle of others and they've also been through it, which makes the lyrics real and meaningful.
